Start with height. A counter stool sits around 660 mm to suit a kitchen island or counter; a bar stool sits around 760 mm for a standard bar. If a venue mixes both, a gas-lift stool adjusts across roughly 600–800 mm and lets one model cover the room — at the cost of a moving part to maintain.
Then pick the seat: padded PU for comfort over a long service, a moulded shell for a lighter modern look, or acrylic when you want the seat to almost disappear. Every version rides on a chromed gas-lift column with a footrest ring and a weighted trumpet or disc base.
